[African American Women in Jazz History, mostly Dancers]

Happy 2024 International Women’s Day!

Here we share African American Women in Jazz history, consolidating dancers’ old clips and life stories, exhibiting portrait artworks of them from today’s women dancers. We are group of females dancers excited to learn, get inspired, share about them. We acknowledge that the dances and music we research and share here come from African American and Black culture. We do so without lived experience of this culture. We seek to continuously educate ourselves about the historical, political and social context from which jazz music and dances grew.
